I've been doing a lot of research in preparation for possibly visiting Albania and Montenegro this summer. Right now our itinerary is looking pretty convoluted because you can't rent a car in Montenegro and take it into Albania at least through Hertz and we don't want to travel by bus. We're planning on flying into Dubrovnik , which we visited a few years ago, and spending a couple days there before renting a car and driving to either Kotor or Budva and using that as our home base for four days while taking day trips to Cetinje, Sveti Stefan , and other towns along the coast. Then we'll drive back to Dubrovnik and here's the really convoluted part fly direct to Rome , spend five days there, and then fly direct to Tirana, Albania. I can't figure out a better way to have a car in both countries, it's only a one-hour flight , and I've never to Rome, so what the hell.
